Create a Welcoming Front Door

You put a lot of work into making sure the inside of your house looks lovely — but what about the outside? A welcoming front porch can set a positive tone for anyone who comes to your door and can serve as a great introduction to your home. Here are a few quick, budget-friendly ways to give your front door a makeover.

Add Some Color. Does your doorway leave something to be desired? Painting your front door can bring a bold pop of color to your entryway! It’s easy to do yourself: Just remove or tape over the hardware, sand the surface, and put down a few coats of a fun color.

Go Greener. Nothing energizes a space like plants! Whether you favor more traditional planters on either side of the door, hanging plants, or even potted flowers on a table or stand, try bringing some greenery to your porch. It’s a good idea to think about how these plants will complement or contrast with your landscaping in the yard too.

Upgrade Your Doormat. Not only does a doormat protect the interior of your home from the wet or dirty feet of your guests, it can also lend some personality to your door. A “welcome” mat is classic, but there are plenty of funny, sweet, and creative mats you can choose to show your visitors what kind of home they’re about to enter.

Furnish It. Even if you don’t have a full porch, a little furniture in the front can make your home appear more welcoming, and of course, it can encourage you to spend some time out there! A rocking chair or bench can fit on or beside even the smallest of porches, whereas a larger porch might benefit from a table and chairs, or maybe a porch swing.

Don’t forget to dress up that furniture with some outdoor throw pillows, citronella candles (ambient and mosquito-repellant!), and maybe even some twinkle lights to brighten up evening relaxation.

What do you want people to see when they arrive at your home? Your front porch can be an easy weekend project to beautify your house’s exterior and help visitors and guests feel welcome from the moment they arrive at your home.

First time home buyer here

First time home buyer here who did it all without the adult supervision/guidance (i.e. my parents) , and I was clueless. I did my best to look into things before hand but I knew the very basics. Jim and his team were AMAZING! Jim took the time to explain the step-by-step process involved and explained it in a way that I understood. He also made sure I understood what he was saying by “quizzing” me. There was never any annoyance/aggravation in his tone even if he had to go over something 2 or 3 times. Always professional and always kind. Jim and his team were prompt with their email responses and made the whole process go smoothly. I also appreciated that Jim would reach out to me via phone and made sure I understood where we were in the process. This made for a great first time home buying experience! Highly recommend this group!
